Oregon — In a recent Truth Social post, former President Donald J. Trump reiterated his support for tariffs, arguing that the policy has made the United States “the richest, most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation, and a record stock market.”
Trump wrote that “people that are against tariffs are FOOLS,” and claimed the United States is “taking in trillions of dollars” from tariff revenues. He added that the revenue would help pay down the national debt and suggested Americans could soon receive “a dividend of at least $2,000 a person (not including high-income people!).”
The post reflects Trump’s ongoing defense of his trade policies, which included sweeping tariffs on Chinese imports and other goods during his presidency. His administration imposed duties on more than $360 billion worth of Chinese products, aiming to pressure Beijing on trade practices and protect U.S. industries. Trump has continued to argue that tariffs boost domestic manufacturing and strengthen American leverage in global markets.
