Monmouth, OR. — Officers from the Monmouth Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious device near a construction site at approximately 300 Hoxton Avenue. Construction workers discovered the object and immediately contacted authorities.
Police secured the area and requested assistance from the Salem Bomb Squad to assess and identify the device. As a precaution, nearby residents were instructed to either shelter in place or temporarily evacuate while the investigation was underway.
After examination, the Bomb Squad determined the device to be a hoax and safely removed it from the scene. Normal activity resumed shortly after.
The Monmouth Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with information related to the incident to contact their office.
