Salem, OR. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public notification under ORS 163A.215 regarding a registered sex offender currently residing in Salem. The release is intended to enhance public safety and awareness.
Officials identified the individual as Cheslee Dave Jeffers, age 45, who lives at 743 Hawthorne Avenue NE, Salem, Oregon. Jeffers is required to register as a sex offender with the Oregon State Police and has been classified at a level indicating a potential to re-offend.
Jeffers is currently on post-prison supervision for unlawful use of a motor vehicle and escape in the second degree. His previous convictions include:
- Two counts of Sex Abuse II (2021)
- Three counts of Rape III (2006)
- Rape III (2001)
- Rape III (1999)
- Multiple property and person-to-person crimes dating back to 1997
Authorities stated that Jeffers’ known victims were female teenagers known to him.
Jeffers began his current supervision on May 10, 2024, which is set to expire on December 5, 2026. His supervision includes strict conditions: no contact with minors and prohibition from visiting places where minors congregate.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the purpose of this notice is to inform the community, not to incite fear or harassment, and encouraged residents to use the information responsibly.
