Umatilla County, OR. — The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help identifying those responsible for the unlawful killing of a 6×6 bull elk near Hermiston.
On September 5, 2025, troopers responded to reports of a dead bull elk found on private property next to the Cold Springs National Wildlife Refuge in the Columbia Basin Unit. Investigators believe the elk was killed and left to waste between September 4 and 5. None of the meat could be salvaged.

The Turn In Poachers (TIP) program offers rewards or preference points for information leading to arrests or citations in wildlife crimes. Rewards range from $1,000 for elk cases to $10,000 for wolf-related violations.
