Hillsboro, OR. — Hillsboro Fire & Rescue has announced the addition of Rescue 6, a new advanced life support rescue unit that will begin service at Cherry Lane Station 6 on November 6, 2025. The new unit expands emergency response capacity in one of Hillsboro’s fastest-growing areas, where emergency medical calls continue to rise.
“This is a strategic investment in our community’s safety,” said Fire Chief David Downey. “Rescue 6 enhances our ability to respond quickly to medical calls, improves coverage in a rapidly growing area, and helps ensure that all of our stations remain ready for major incidents.”
Rescue 6 will be staffed by firefighter-paramedics and equipped with advanced life support (ALS) tools to deliver high-quality pre-hospital medical care. Its deployment will help keep fire engines available for fires and other complex emergencies while improving systemwide efficiency.
City Manager Robby Hammond praised the addition, noting that it ensures Hillsboro’s emergency services keep pace with the city’s growth. “Rescue 6 represents a proactive approach to public safety, ensuring residents and businesses have access to excellent emergency medical care as our city expands.”
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue continues its commitment to protecting lives and property through excellence in emergency response, prevention, and community engagement.
