Clatsop County, OR. — In response to feedback from local lodging providers, the Clatsop County Department of Assessment and Taxation announced a one-time exception to the Transient Lodging Tax (TLT) collection process to ensure a smooth transition under the newly adopted TLT Ordinance.
The exception applies only to bookings made before January 1, 2026, for stays occurring on or after that date. Property owners and operators will have the opportunity to file an additional one-time return prior to the new rate increase, specifically to account for affected bookings.
Under the updated process:
- Rental records for these bookings will be required;
- The rents will be excluded from future TLT filings;
- Detailed instructions and forms will be sent in December, along with fourth-quarter filing materials.
Clatsop County officials emphasized that the adjustment is intended to minimize administrative burden while maintaining compliance as the updated lodging tax rates take effect in 2026. The county’s TLT revenues, shared between the city, county, and state, support tourism promotion, events, and local economic development.
