Oregon — Portland has found itself the focus of national attention recently as a result of the Anti-ICE demonstrations and riots surrounding the facility. There has been nearly nightly activity over the past several months.
Since May 2025, the Portland ICE facility has been the scene of escalating demonstrations that have drawn enforcement actions by local and federal agencies. In June, the Portland Police Bureau declared a protest a riot after demonstrators smashed doors and attempted to breach the ICE building, arresting three individuals that night. In subsequent weeks, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon filed charges against dozens of protesters, by early September, 26 defendants faced federal counts such as assaulting federal officers, arson, possession of destructive devices, and depredation of government property.
Earlier filings from the U.S. Attorney’s Office included charges against six protesters in June and four more in July for attacking federal law enforcement near the ICE facility. In the local system, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office declined to pursue disorderly conduct charges against a conservative influencer arrested during an October protest, citing insufficient evidence. Meanwhile, Portland Police Bureau press releases confirm at least two arrests during an October demonstration around the ICE building.

Wyden and other top level elected Democrats have been mostly publicly silent about the demonstrations and riots. Following President Trump issuing an order to federalize and deploy National Guard troops at the ICE facility, calling Portland “war ravaged”, Wyden and other Democrat officials took to posting pictures videos of areas of Portland during the day showing calm and claiming the President was creating a false narrative. This also included posting content of the ICE facility during the day, seemingly calm with no issues.
As Post Millenial journalist Katie Daviscourt, who has been covering the demonstrations for several months and was recently assaulted by Portland Antifa, and independent Oregon reporter @hunnybadgermom have shown, the bulk of the activity takes place at night.
Senator Wyden recently came under scrutiny following a lawsuit against his wife alleging their children had severely harassed a former assistant prior to him quitting under duress and later committing suicide. The family resides in New York where the children attend school raising serious questions of the Senator’s status as a legal Oregon resident.
In a post on X Senator Wyden took a shot at Daviscourt and hunnybadgermom, calling them “right-wing influencers” and saying he assumes “actual local news outlets” would get the same rooftop access.
Daviscourt is a full-time journalist with the Post Millenial, she responded to the attack from the Senator on X.
A search of the Senator’s social media accounts and press releases shows no mention of the declared riots, arrests, or assaults on federal officers that have taken place over the many months since early summer.
