Salem, OR. — Official Release: On October 4, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m., weekend day-shift deputies quickly responded to reports of shots fired near Santana Park in the East Salem Service District.
Witnesses reported a white sedan speeding away from the area immediately after the shots. Deputies swiftly located the pictured white Audi nearby and conducted a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle were three male passengers in the back seat and a female driver.
After reviewing surveillance footage and finding multiple spent shell casings at the park, deputies confirmed the Audi matched the suspect vehicle. All occupants were safely removed and detained.
A firearm with a loaded magazine was recovered from one of the male passengers, a juvenile. He was arrested and lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges:
• Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
• Unlawful Use of a Weapon
• Recklessly Endangering Another Person
A second passenger, Malachi Martinez-Sligar (21), was also arrested and lodged at the Marion County Jail on multiple warrants, including:
• Oregon State Parole Board warrant
• Assault in the Fourth Degree – Constituting Domestic Violence
• Hit and Run – Property
• Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
At this time, no injuries or property damage have been reported.
