Lebanon, 9/24/2025 – Today, Jonathan Lockwood filed the necessary paperwork with the Oregon Secretary of State and paid the filing fee required for ballot access. The seat is currently held by Congresswoman Val Hoyle, D-Eugene. Pending approval, Lockwood will be the first Republican candidate to run in the 2026 primary.
Lockwood released the following statement:
“Val Hoyle has no place in Congress, she is unfit. Oregonians deserve someone who is real, takes tough positions and defends them, and cares about the issues facing Oregon families and workers, not special interests.
“For example, Val Hoyle votes against the resolution honoring Charlie Kirk and then makes a video mentioning his death to help her make a cheap political point on her rarely visited social media channels. She fails to report her stocks when she’s playing pretend with legislation to clean up poor investing behavior in Congress. Similar to how she touts ‘block the bombs’ that’s going nowhere but provides political cover as she describes the war in Gaza as a ‘policy choice.’ This is how she operates. And it makes sense, she’s a has-been creature of Kate Brown’s legacy and it is killing Oregonians. Republicans have to be smart about this, we haven’t held this seat since the 1970s.
“We cannot continue to be represented by someone who only sees political violence when it benefits them. She has been silent as terrorists disrupt the peace in her district. She has been silent on so many issues it makes you wonder why she even wants to be in Congress unless its only for personal gain.
“I will be taking on Val Hoyle from the start and engaging with the Republicans here in the fourth district to earn their support. Val Hoyle must go. Let’s make it happen.”
