Oregon – Former Republican Representative Cyrus Javadi (D-Tillamook) announced today that he will be running for reelection as a Democrat.
Over the last two election cycles, Javadi has received hundreds of volunteer hours and $80,000 in contributions from the Republican Party. He’s only a legislator because of Republicans. If he’s going to insist on switching, he should also insist on giving those contributions back.
YRO member Adam Beckmann was a dedicated volunteer for Javadi in 2022 and was a paid staffer in 2024. When he learned that Javadi switched parties, this was his reaction. “On a daily basis I would drive from Newberg to the Oregon coast in order to knock doors, set up campaign signs, and assist with campaign events for Cyrus. My efforts were just one part of an entire team of dedicated campaign staffers who truly believed in what we were doing. We spent countless hours speaking to voters, fundraising, and working tirelessly to get Cyrus elected twice. Today, when I got the news that Cyrus had abandoned the GOP, it hit me hard. Myself and others who were close to Cyrus feel betrayed by his selfish actions. I pledge to campaign for his opponent in next year’s election.”
YRO Treasurer Alex McHaddad said, “Rep. Javadi is only in office because of the tireless efforts of Republican voters. If being a Republican Representative is so unpalatable, he should resign and let North Coast conservatives pick his successor rather than switch parties.”
Tanner Elliott, YRO Chair, stated, “After being the deciding vote on the largest tax increase in Oregon history, Representative Javadi decided today to sell out to the democrats who can’t govern our state and leave the Republican Party. He is a big government, pro-tax, liberal who is part of the problem of why Oregon continues to be more and more unaffordable. To my friends on the North Coast, please vote him out.”
The Young Republicans are the oldest political youth organization in the United States. Important to the growth of the Republican Party, the YRs reach out to registered Republicans, 18 to 40 years of age, and provide them with better political knowledge and understanding of the issues of the day. Their mission is to Recruit, Train, and Elect Young Republicans across Oregon and the Nation.

I’m Dr. Frank Mansfield running for the District 16 State Senate position and I will not sell out the people and businesses of the District. The system is broken and needs to be fixed. I’m not a politician and I’m not part of the system. I’m running to help the people succeed with opportunities and the businesses to succeed by reducing red tape, selfish laws and ordinances and taxes.
