Portland, OR. — Official Release: On Friday, June 27, 2025 at 9:43 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct and the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) responded to a report of a shooting at a private event space in the 14900 block of Southeast Stark Street. When officers arrived they located four people with apparent gunshot wounds, including a 15-year-old male, a 23-year-old male, a 32-year-old male, and a 40-year-old female. Officers provided trauma first aid until emergency medical services (EMS) from Portland Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response arrived to provide advanced care. All the injured victims were transported to the hospitals by ambulance. The injuries were serious, however due to emergency treatment the victims are expected to survive.
The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. Officers encountered over 100 people in and around the event center, and many provided suspect information to officers, including a photo of him and the direction he left. Officers set up a perimeter around the area that the suspect was believed to be and PPB drone operators and K9 officers responded to assist.
During the search, a community member in the area of Southeast 160th Avenue south of East Burnside Street flagged down officers and told them that two people were hiding in a backyard shed. Officers used a loudspeaker to call them out, and the two people complied with police commands and were taken into custody at 10:43 p.m. They were approximately 15 blocks away from the scene of the shooting.
Detectives with the Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) and Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division (FED) responded to the scene to investigate the shooting and process evidence.
The investigation revealed that the suspect fired at least 25 rounds. In addition to injuring 4 people, there were multiple bullet strikes to parked vehicles and other property.
A male juvenile, 16, of Portland, was booked in the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (4 counts), Assault in the First Degree (4 counts), Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (city code). The other person detained, a 17-year-old female, was interviewed and released without charges.
