Dallas, OR. – Official Release: Ivan Rosalio Mendez-Perez, 30, has been sentenced to serve 2 ½ years in prison for his actions in initiating a verbal and physical altercation within the Polk County Jail with multiple corrections deputies.
Mendez-Perez, of Albany, was sentenced by Polk County Circuit Judge Rafael A. Caso, after a jury found him guilty of Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, Attempting to Assault a Public Safety Officer (2 counts), Sex Abuse in the Third Degree, and Bias Crime in the Second Degree. Mendez-Perez will also be required to serve a two year term of Post-Prison Supervision upon his release. Mendez-Perez was already serving a term of incarceration and Judge Caso ordered that the sentence be served consecutively to that existing sentence.
During the trial, the District Attorney’s Office presented evidence that during the altercation, Mendez-Perez grabbed the intimate part of a female deputy and repeatedly made sexualized comments towards her. Mendez-Perez also struck another deputy in the face, injuring him.
The case was investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Polk County Chief Deputy District Attorney Matt Wilson.
