Law Enforcement Indictment Issued

Bend, OR. – Official Release: On Feb. 28, 2025, a Deschutes County grand jury indicted 30-year-old Jessica May Sanders of Clearlake, Calif., and 38-year-old Jason Newton Loun of Redmond, on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree theft in the January death of Robert Lewis Treher.  

On Jan. 3, Bend Police identified Sanders as a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Sanders, an acquaintance of Treher, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Lake County, Calif., and was staying in nearby Eagle Crest Resort. That same day, detectives, with assistance from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Redmond Police, conducted a traffic stop in the area of SW 27th Street and Juniper Avenue in Redmond and took Sanders and the driver, Delfina Annette Gonzales, into custody. Based on evidence found in the vehicle, the pair were charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). They were lodged at the Deschutes County Jail, where Sanders has remained as a result of the drug offenses. 

Loun, also an acquaintance of Treher, was taken into custody by Redmond Police at approximately 2 a.m. on March 1.  

Sanders and Loun are currently lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on the above charges.

At approximately 8:24 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, Bend Police responded to a request for a welfare check at the Holiday Motel. An employee reported entering a hotel room and finding an unresponsive man inside. The man, identified as 34-year-old Bend resident Robert Lewis Treher, was confirmed dead at the scene.

Treher’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

A large law enforcement presence was on hand at the Holiday Motel until approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, as Bend Police and Oregon State Police forensics investigated.
