Cowlitz County, WA. – Official Release: Firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire in the 500 block of Carlon Loop road at 2:27 pm on Friday. Several callers reported heavy smoke in the area and that a home was on fire on the second story.
Fire crews arrived and confirmed the home’s second story was on fire and began their attack with multiple hose lines. Chief Officers ordered a second alarm on scene, but some resources were not needed and were later canceled. All occupants of the house were out of the house when firefighters arrived.
One firefighter fell through a compromised floor which hindered normal firefighting tactics. The firefighter suffered no injuries. One cat perished in the fire, another is still missing. Firefighters had the fire fully extinguished at 4:37 pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation; no injuries were reported.
