Washougal, WA. – Official Release: Just after 5:30 PM on January 31, 2025, East County Fire and Rescue (ECFR) was dispatched to a report of an outbuilding fire at 34909 SE 20th Street in Washougal.
The first arriving company located a 20′ x 40′ shed containing a travel trailer completely involved in fire. Due to the extent of the fire, a defensive strategy was used to confine the fire to the involved structure and travel trailer. Initial response to this incident involved four fire engines, three water tenders, and three command officers from East County Fire and Rescue, Camas Washougal Fire Department, and Vancouver Fire Department.
The travel trailer was occupied at the time of the fire. The occupants escaped and were uninjured, but two dogs and a cat died in the fire with another dog and cat unaccounted for. The fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
