Coos County, OR. – Official Release: On 01/24/2025, around 6:13 PM, North Coos Dispatch received a report from a female caller of a disturbance occurring at a residence on Penny Road, in Coos Bay.
While Coos County Deputy H. Francis was in route to the residence, several 9-1-1 calls were received by a male at the residence where the disturbance was occurring. The male was uncooperative with dispatchers and made threats to another subject at the residence. The male called 9-1-1 a 3rd time, telling dispatchers that law enforcement was no longer needed and reporting there was blood everywhere. The initial female reporting party called again and advised the male was the aggressor and said the male had thrown a bucket a feces on her.
Deputy Francis arrived and made contact with both the female caller and the male, soon after identified as John R. Mauldin (66). The female was found to be uninjured and the Deputy identified the disturbance stemmed over a civil matter. Deputy Francis was able to calm the situation down, educated John on the civil eviction process and issued a verbal warning for his actions.
Deputy Francis returned to her patrol vehicle and just prior to leaving the property, she could hear the John yelling and items being thrown within the residence. Dispatch advised Deputy Francis the female just called 9-1-1 reporting John had thrown items at her and she was now being cornered in her room by John. Dispatch advised John also called 9-1-1 and hung up on the dispatcher.
Deputy Freerksen arrived and assisted Deputy Francis, making contact with John at the front door. Deputies discovered the female was now barricaded in her bedroom, and John began to walk back into the residence towards the room where the female was hiding. John became uncooperative with Deputies as they detained him. John was subsequently placed under arrest, which he began to resist the Deputies and became increasingly uncooperative. An officer with Coos Bay Police responded to assist as John refused to follow Deputies commands.
John was eventually placed into a patrol vehicle and transported to Coos County Jail without further incident. John was booked on the requested charges of Misuse of 9-1-1, Initiating a False Report, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.
