Coos County, OR. – Official Release: On 01/20/2025, around 11:30 PM, North Coos dispatch received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence off Spinreel Road, in North Bend. The female caller reported her husband was the alleged suspect, later identified as Jason L. Nofziger (21) and their minor children were currently present in the residence. While dispatch was obtaining additional information, the female caller began to yell at someone and the line disconnected. Units from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
An Oregon State Police Trooper arrived on scene first and made contact with Jason, whom was uncooperative. While Deputies were in route, they received additional information that Jason was said to be fighting with the Trooper. Deputy Z. Smith, Deputy Freerksen, along with a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene just as Jason was being detained by the Trooper. Once the scene was made safe, Deputy Z. Smith began his investigation with speaking to witnesses and everyone involved.
After the investigation, Jason was subsequently arrested for Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree – Felony – presence of minor children, Domestic Strangulation and 2 counts of Interfering with Making a Report. Jason was transported to Coos County Jail and booked on the requested charges.
