
Marion County, OR. – Official Release: An early morning traffic stop leads to the arrest of a 35-year-old Keizer man.
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning in the East Salem Service District (ESSD) at State Street/Lancaster Drive, deputies stopped a black Ford truck for traffic violations. A passenger, identified as Jonathan Cherry, was found to have a felony warrant for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (UUMV) and was detained. A loaded .40-cal handgun was located in his backpack with a shaved-off serial number.
Mr. Cherry was lodged at the Marion County Jail on the warrant for UUMV and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Obliteration of an ID number on a firearm.
Mr. Cherry is scheduled for arraignment on January 6, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Marion County Court Annex.
