As a former Chair of the Union County Republican Party, I endorse Jake Seavert for Union County Commissioner. Since I returned to northeast Oregon, I have seen few leaders put in Jake’s level of effort to understand the City of Elgin’s needs and potential for prosperity. I invited all candidates to visit me in Elgin this spring to learn about community issues before budget season. Jake met with me in person and attended multiple city council meetings. On the other end of the spectrum was a candidate who said they would not meet with me until after the primary because, in their words, “there aren’t a whole lot of votes in Elgin.” With Jake serving as a Commissioner, the Jewel of the Blue Mountains will have a strong friend in our County government.
