September 9, 2024 – Representative Bobby Levy: OR Legislators focus on rural transportation challenges, long winters, and growing economies at Ontario and Hermiston tour stops
Eastern Oregon roads need just as much attention and maintenance as the I-5 corridor. For many reasons, for housing infrastructure, for winter weather, and for trucking. In Oregon, truckers are being wildly over taxed. Mainly due to Oregon’s attempt to incentivize a completely EV future. However, the electric grid & infrastructure cannot support this vision in the near future.
The City of Echo especially needs proactive solutions instead of what has been occurring the past few years with flooding. For example, the 2020 Umatilla river floods that damaged I-84 and farm roads and farm property in Echo. The City of Pendleton had major business infrastructure damaged. As well as the mobile home park and several businesses in Pendleton that sat under 5 feet of water.
The Union County Fairground need to be fully funded for their water and sewer for the ability for the Red Cross to operate and Fire Department Staging.
All the fog lines need to be painted in House District 58 due to the heavy fog that Northeastern Oregon experiences.
The 50-30-20 budget rule must remain for the ODOT budget. The 50-30-20 rule states 50% should be spent of after-tax income on needs and obligations that must be done. The remaining half should dedicate 20% to savings, leaving 30% to be spent on things that other projects and unexpected needs.
