Clark County, WA. – Official Release: On 08/12/2024 at around 4:45pm, Clark County Sheriffs Office (CCSO) deputies were dispatched to Orchards Community Park (9500 NE 58th Street, Vancouver) for a report of a suspicious circumstance. A person had called 911, stating two juveniles were observed pulling bandanas and a ‘black handgun’ out of backpack.
As deputies arrived in the area, numerous witnesses came forward, stating they heard a gunshot in the northern part of the park, and that the two juveniles were seen walking in that area.
Deputies set up containment and saw the juveniles run further into the woods, toward Interstate 205. Additional arriving units on I-205 saw the juveniles walking northbound on the shoulder of the interstate. Northbound Interstate 205 was delayed for a short time. A CCSO UAS (drone) was utilized to observe the two subjects.
When deputies tried to contact the juveniles, they ran back into the woods and eastward towards a residence. The juveniles were spotted in the backyard of the residence shedding several items of clothing.
Deputies made visual and verbal contact with a male juvenile in the driveway of the residence and he was taken into custody without incident. The female juvenile was later spotted running behind the residence along the fence line. A CCSO K9 successfully located the female.. She was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies located two firearms tucked between the fences along Interstate 205 and the residence where the male was located.. Both firearms were loaded. Deputies also located numerous bandanas and clothing items.
The juveniles, ages 13 and 14, were booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Hall for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, and resisting arrest.
