Clark County, WA. – Official Release: The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in fraudulent phone calls to citizens reporting the call recipient is required to pay a fine to avoid being Jailed. Additionally, there have been several calls from subject(s) identifying themselves to the caller as an alleged attorney representing the recipients family member who has been in an accident. The caller then request money to bail the family member out.
Law Enforcement will never call and request money, cashiers checks, bitcoin or any other form of payment from a citizen for any reason. If you receive a call from a person alleging they are an attorney or law enforcement stating a family member needs money, verify with that family member or call 911 to verify or report the situation.
