Two Men Killed in Crash While Evading Police Have Been Identified
Two men, 22-year-old Malcom T. Braman and 36-year-old Nicholas P. McGuire, were killed in an eluding driver crash during a street racing/takeover mission in Portland, OR on August 2, 2024.

Two people were killed and another was seriously hurt after the driver of a vehicle eluded a traffic stop during a multi-agency street racing/takeover mission.
On Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at 11:55 p.m., two Gresham Police officers in a partner car assisting on the mission reported seeing a speeding reckless driver in the area of Northeast 122nd Avenue at Northeast Hancock Street. The officers activated overhead police lights to initiate a traffic stop and the driver did not stop. The officer began a traffic pursuit and immediately efforts to quickly intervene and end the pursuit began. The Air Support Unit was enroute, and officers were working to deploy spike strips to flatten the vehicle’s tires. At 11:57 p.m., the officer reported the eluding driver crashed into a utility pole and rolled over at Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Marx Street. Emergency medical services responded and confirmed that two people were deceased at the scene. A third was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to investigate the crash. During the investigation, Northeast 122nd Avenue is closed between Northeast Shaver Street and Northeast Marx Street.
