Camas, WA. – Official Release: The Camas Lions Club gathered on Thursday, July 18, to honor the lives of Dick and Dolores McRobert, two beloved members of their club. Approximately 50 Lions from Washington State attended the heartfelt ceremony. The evening began with a solemn tribute to the two special Lions who passed away in 2023 and 2024. The ceremony was led by PDG Steve Patterson; a touching moment followed with PDG Marilyn Patterson singing “Amazing Grace.“
To symbolize the absence of Dick and Dolores, a beautifully set table for two was placed at the front of the room. The round table, adorned with a white tablecloth, represented the circle of life and the purity of their service. Lit candles illuminated their memory, while a pinch of salt acknowledged the sweat from their tireless efforts and the tears shed by their loved ones. The bread symbolized the fruits of their labor and the legacy they left within the Camas Lions Club. Inverted glasses and empty chairs poignantly marked their absence from the gathering.
Club President, Stephanie O’Dell shared heartfelt reflections on Dick and Dolores, highlighting their exemplary roles within the club. Dolores joined the Lions in 1987-1988, the first year women were allowed to join. Dolores, a trailblazer and the first female president of the Camas Lions Club, inspired Stephanie to follow in her footsteps. Their shared passion for Lions International was evident as Dolores encouraged Stephanie to attend International conventions and embrace leadership roles. Dick, joining the club after marrying Dolores, became an equally dedicated member, creating a powerful partnership that served as a model for other couples within the organization.
The club shared cherished memories of the couple, including a humorous anecdote about Dick’s unwavering loyalty to Budweiser. As the Camas Lions Club moves forward, they vow to honor Dick and Dolores’ legacy by continuing their commitment to service and community involvement.
