Portland, OR. – Official Release: The Portland Police Bureau needs the public’s help locating the suspect involved in a homicide in the Overlook Neighborhood.
Since the evening of Thursday, June 27, 2024, PPB’s Homicide Unit has been investigating the shooting death of Sean K. Smeeden, 39, of Portland. Through the investigation, detectives identified Moyasar Osman Mohamed-Ahmed as the suspect, but they have not been able to locate him. Detectives have reason to believe the 29-year-old fled the area, if not the country. Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to call 911 immediately.

The man who was found deceased after a shooting Thursday evening on the TriMet MAX platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street is identified as Sean K. Smeeden, 39, of Portland. His family members have been notified of his death and have not indicated an interest in speaking to the media.
The medical examiner determined that Smeeden died of homicide by gunshot wound. There were no TriMet trains or busses in the vicinity when the shooting happened.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to the TriMet MAX platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street on reports of a person shot. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim who was deceased. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been detained.
Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives are responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, North Interstate Avenue is closed between North Skidmore Street and North Going Street. Additionally, the MAX train is currently unable to travel through the location and service is interrupted.
The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
