Josephine County, OR. – Official Release: Early detection and defendable space preparations allowed for a positive outcome for residents in the Cienaga Ln. area due to a fast moving grass fire.
ODF detection cameras from Sexton Mt. notified response units of a column of smoke coming up in the area of Cienaga Ln. Thanks to Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police in assisting in locating the fire, units were able to make an aggressive attack limiting damages to the loss of a small out building and a single vehicle.
Multiple residents in the neighborhood had done several tireless hours prior to this incident to build defensible space for their properties. Firefighters on scene are crediting this work to the positive outcome and homes saved from this incident.
The final fire size was 3.25 acres stopped by the mutual aid work with ODF and their helicopters, Rural Metro and Grants Pass Fire.

Units from Rural Metro, ODF Southwest Oregon District, and Grants Pass Fire are on scene of a grass fire in the 100 block of Cienaga Ln. Crews have advised that forward progress has been stopped, and units are working to wrap the fire.
