CALL TO ACTION! WURA MEETING THIS COMING TUESDAY!
Attention supporters of the Joseph Branch Trail! Please plan to attend the WURA meeting this coming Tuesday June 4th at 5 p.m. at the Elgin Train Depot. This emergent meeting is slated to discuss the signing and submission of our APPLICATION for a Conditional Use Permit in Union County by WURA representatives. This is a public meeting where comments will be accepted. https://unioncountyor.gov/wura-board-to-meet/
The publicly owned, 100-foot-wide railroad corridor right-of-way is managed by the Wallowa Union Railroad Authority, an ORS 190 intergovernmental agreement between Wallowa and Union counties. It is your right to comment on future use of and access to your publicly owned right-of-way along the rail line. The submission of this application to the planning commission, that we will speak out in favor of, will then begin the public process that you as a constituency are legally guaranteed. Which includes planning commission meetings, public hearings and comment periods, adjacent landowner notifications from Union County, etc.
We need folks to show up in support of submitting this application and speak out in favor of this Trail-with-Rail THIS TUESDAY JUNE 4TH AT 5 P.M. AT THE ELGIN TRAIN DEPOT. Please spread the word and we look forward to seeing you there!
