May 7, 2024 – Rep. James Hieb: Lars Larson Endorses James Hieb for HD51 Re-Election
State Representative James Hieb was endorsed by Lars Larson in his campaign to seek a second full term representing his home community of District 51 in the Oregon Legislature.
Lars Larson, who has conducted one-on-one interviews with some of the biggest names in politics like President Donald J. Trump, has been a staple in talk-radio with millions of listeners around the world.
“Former Marine and now Oregon State House Rep is running for re-election and Christine Drazan would like to take his seat away,” Larson said live on his KXL 101 FM radio program, The Lars Larson Show, on May 6, 2024.
“What should people make of the fact that Christine Drazan disappointed more than a few people in her legislative votes and then ran for governor and sadly didn’t do a very good job there either,” said Larson.
“You want my recommendation? Don’t vote for Drazan- bad idea, big disappointment. Vote for James Hieb,” said Larson.

Representative Hieb was first appointed to the Oregon House of Representatives in February 2022 to complete the unfinished legislative term of Christine Drazan who left the House District 39 seat (redistricted to House District 51 in 2023) to pursue an unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign. He then won both the Primary Election and the General Election in 2022, winning a full term to the legislature by receiving more than two-thirds of the votes as a strong declaration of his friends and neighbors who trust him to faithfully represent their interests at the Capitol in Salem.
Representative Hieb is a 6th generation, lifelong Clackamas County-area resident, and Canby High School graduate. He is an Iraq War Marine combat veteran, a small business owner, and the director and co-founder of the Estacada Timber School. He is a 2nd generation family farmer, and above all, husband to his wife, Katie, and father to five outstanding kids.
He is an avid community leader and volunteer, including serving as Vice Chair of the Canby Planning Commission, Post Commander and other roles for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6057, National Committeeman and Treasurer for the Young Republicans of Oregon, a Precinct Committee Person for the Clackamas County Republican Party, and a member of American Legion Post 122 and the Canby Housing Needs Committee. He has also been recently appointed to the Willamette Falls Locks Authority Board.
He currently serves on the House Committee for Early Childhood and Human Services as well as the Emergency Management, General Government, and Veterans Committee in the Oregon State Legislature. He is also a member of the Veterans Caucus, Clackamas County Legislative Caucus, Water Policy Caucus, and the Railroad Caucus.
Representative Hieb’s demonstrated top priorities at the State Capitol have included Veterans legislation, funding for local water treatment projects, and supporting drug addiction and mental health treatment facilities in the community. He is vocally pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment, and advocates for protecting the sacred rights of parents to parent their children and guide their children’s education. He votes in support of fully funding law enforcement agencies to protect and serve our communities. As a small business owner, he understands the needs of reversing our state’s dismal record of hostility toward small-business owners. Above all, his personal lived experiences have helped him in addressing Oregon’s twin epidemics of addiction and homelessness in ways that will not make these problems even worse.
He currently faces an extremely high funded primary challenger in Christine Drazan but he remains confident he will be re-elected to continue his advocacy for common-sense solutions to the problems Oregonians face. He believes Oregon doesn’t need A New Direction, Oregon needs to go BACK in the RIGHT direction. Support for his re-election campaign will help give power back to the people of Oregon.
