March 7, 2024 – Rep. James Hieb: Facebook Post
Today marks 10 years since my little brother died from a fentanyl overdose. The fentanyl crisis has been here for much longer than most people realize. This tragedy has pushed me for these past years, to work towards solving the addiction crisis on our streets.
Today also marks the end of the legislative session. I can proudly say that we have taken meaningful steps towards fixing our recovery supports in the State, and have for the first time, made distributing fentanyl a crime on par with the schedule 1 controlled substances. If people are selling this poison on our streets, we will lock them up.
