Albany, OR. – On Friday, March 1st at 5:12pm Albany Fire Department requested assistance from Albany Police Department on an active fire investigation in the 1400 block of Washington Street SW.
We learned AFD transported the male to Albany Samaritan Hospital, but he had succumbed to his injuries and died. The male was transported prior to officers arrival on the scene.

Officers were able to confirm the identity of the decedent as Brian Lee Powell, 64 years of age. There were no other residents or animals in the home and the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
Officers were able to notify family and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
