On February 3rd, 2024, at approximately 1:00 am, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a tent fire in a camp off of the U.S. Forest Service Road 1801, near China Hat Road.
Deputies arrived on scene and determined the tent fire was a result of wood stove fire which eventually burnt the tent, surrounding area, and began threatening large trees.
Deputies were able to dig a fire line around the spreading flames and contained the fire to an approximate area of 30’x30’. Deputies were also able to knock the flames down and prevented spreading of the fire.
