Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police have identified the person who was killed in a Saturday morning shooting as 58-year-old Mauro Martinez Diaz, of Gresham.
Officers responded to a shooting near E Burnside St. and SE 188th Ave. shortly after 1 o’clock Saturday morning. They found Martinez Diaz had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Detectives with Gresham Police and the East County Major Crimes Team were assigned to investigate the shooting. Investigators learned Martinez Diaz was involved in multiple physical disturbances prior to the shooting. The person who shot Martinez Diaz contacted police and has been interviewed. No arrests have been made at this time.
Police believe there are additional witnesses who had contact with Martinez Diaz prior to the shooting. They are asked to call the Gresham Police Department tip line at 503-618-2719.
