Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. A day established in remembrance of those lost to illicit fentanyl overdoses and to acknowledge the devastation this drug has brought to hundreds of thousands of affected family members and friends.
Fentanyl is a nationwide problem, and Linn County is no exception. We see it here, we see its effects on our communities and we know the extreme, life-threating dangers it presents.
Your Linn County Sheriff’s Office is committed to educating the public on the dangers of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs. We want to use this day as an opportunity to provide tools and resources for our parents to gain the knowledge necessary to have a serious conversations with their kids. https://www.addicted.org/news/parents-guide-to-fentanyl/ is a great place to start.
We also have a page on our website dedicated to drug education, with a special message from Sheriff Michelle Duncan, a fentanyl documentary and many other resources. This can be found at https://www.linnsheriff.org/community-resources/drugeducation/. We can all do our part to become educated on fentanyl and do our part to help stop this dangerous drug from spreading even further into our community.
