LANE COUNTY, Ore. (April 9, 2026) — Authorities have located the remains of a Eugene man who had been missing for over a year, bringing closure to a lengthy search effort.
On April 9, search and rescue personnel with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, along with a detective, returned to the Hall Road area west of Cheshire to continue searching for 63-year-old Jonathan Allen House of Eugene.
House was last known to be in the 25600 block of Hall Road in mid-March 2025.
During the search, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue volunteers discovered House’s remains in a densely overgrown area. Crews used chainsaws and hand tools to clear a path through thick vegetation in order to safely recover the remains.
Investigators say there is no indication that a crime occurred.
Officials expressed gratitude to the many staff members, volunteers, and partner organizations who dedicated hundreds of hours to the search effort. Authorities also acknowledged the continued work of search teams involved in other missing persons cases throughout the region.
