Oregon — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has sold 27.6 million board feet of timber across 1,255 acres of public land in Oregon, generating $8,327,275 and exceeding appraised values by more than $3 million.
Officials say the strong bidding reflects continued demand for domestic lumber manufacturing while helping supply timber to local mills and support jobs in surrounding communities.
Several timber tracts were sold across western and southern Oregon districts. In the Coos Bay District, the Eckley Empanada tract—1.8 million board feet across 105 acres—was purchased by Harveys’ Selective Logging, Inc. of Creswell for $142,228.
In southern Oregon, the Medford District sold the Thom Bone tract, containing 6 million board feet over 585 acres, to Estremado Logging Inc. of Gold Hill for $458,766.
Two major sales occurred in the Northwest Oregon District. Boise Cascade Wood Products of Willamina purchased the 7-million-board-foot Gopher Broke tract for $2,499,716, while Rosboro Company of Springfield bought the 8-million-board-foot John Boy tract for $3,913,070.
The Roseburg District also completed a sale of the Muley Mount tract—5 million board feet on 175 acres—to Scott Timber Company of Roseburg for $1,313,495.
BLM officials say the timber program plays an important role in maintaining healthy forests while supporting rural economies. The agency manages approximately 58 million acres of forestland nationwide, including about 2.4 million acres of highly productive forests in western Oregon.
In addition to supporting local mills, timber harvests are used to reduce wildfire risk, improve wildlife habitat, and maintain long-term forest resilience.
The BLM plans to hold seven additional timber sales in Oregon during March 2026, offering roughly 56.9 million board feet across 1,939 acres of public land.
Nationwide, BLM timber sales support roughly 2,000 jobs each year and generate more than $1 billion in economic activity for local communities. In fiscal year 2025 alone, the agency offered 301 million board feet of timber through new sales, stewardship contracts, and cooperative agreements.
