Clackamas County, OR. – A 54-year-old man died Wednesday evening following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 205 during a law enforcement pursuit, according to the Oregon State Police.
At approximately 7:10 p.m. on Feb. 11, troopers responded to the crash near milepost 6 on southbound I-205.
Preliminary findings indicate the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a white 2002 Lexus driven by Douglas Richard York, 54, of Crooked River Ranch, for a speeding violation near West Linn. While continuing southbound, the Lexus rear-ended a gray Volkswagen Golf operated by Christian James Coerper, 34, of Oregon City.
After the collision, the Lexus lost control and rolled over. York was ejected from the vehicle and was subsequently struck by a gray Toyota Corolla driven by Maya Rose Shaw, 31, of Sherwood.
York was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later confirmed York was the subject of a statewide felony warrant and a statewide “be on the lookout” alert issued earlier in the day.
The highway was closed or impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.
The Oregon State Police is investigating the fatal crash. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. Questions regarding the pursuit have been referred to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
