Salem, OR. — Chemeketa Community College is inviting the community to celebrate Valentine’s season with The Great American Love Songbook with Tune Tours, a live concert set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, in the Chemeketa Auditorium (Building 6).
The performance will feature Tune Tours, a musical project led by Oregon-based musicians Jon Deshler on trumpet and Neal Grandstaff on guitar. The longtime collaborators are known for expressive performances rooted in jazz and the American song tradition.
Joining the duo is pianist Finn Yang, whose musical sensitivity and maturity add a fresh dimension to the trio. Together, the group will present a pre-Valentine’s evening of classic love songs drawn from the Great American Songbook.
In addition to live music, the concert will incorporate Deshler’s curated multimedia archives of historic jazz performances, featuring icons such as Chet Baker, Count Basie, and Peggy Lee. The combination of visuals and live performance is designed to create an immersive and romantic experience.
Deshler has a long connection to Chemeketa, having previously performed with the college orchestra for productions of Oliver! and Mary Poppins. He is also the owner of a historic theater in Mt. Angel, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the region’s performing arts scene.
The concert will take place at the Chemeketa Auditorium, located at 4000 Lancaster Drive NE in Salem’s Purple Parking Area. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
