Gresham, OR. — The Gresham Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect connected to a fatal shooting that occurred one year ago at a Gresham park.
On January 23, 2025, shortly after 4 p.m., 17-year-old Jorge Ovidio Mateo Vasquez was shot and killed in what investigators described as an apparent unprovoked attack while he was playing on the futsal court at Vance Park. Despite an extensive investigation, detectives have been unable to locate the suspect.
Police identified the suspect as Camerino Vides, now 17, of Gresham. Authorities warn the public not to approach Vides, as he may be armed.
“Someone knows where Vides is,” said Detective Huffman. “We need the community’s help to locate him so we can hold him accountable and bring some measure of justice to Jorge’s family.”
Anyone with information about Vides’ whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crimestoppers of Oregon at www.crimestoppersoforegon.com or via the organization’s mobile app.
