Clatsop County, OR. — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 26 near milepost 1, according to Oregon State Police.
OSP responded to the crash at approximately 1:46 p.m. on January 10, 2026. Investigators said a westbound Subaru Forester, driven by Smith Ward Humphreys, 47, of Warrenton, crossed into the eastbound lane while attempting to pass other westbound vehicles and struck an eastbound Toyota RAV4.
Humphreys was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Toyota was driven by Daysy Vanesa Camarena, 37, of Whittier, California. Camarena and her passenger, Joshua Zeke Camarena, 33, also of Whittier, sustained reported serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Highway 26 was impacted for approximately four hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
OSP was assisted by the Seaside Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The crash remains under investigation.
