Hillsboro, OR. — A Washington County jury on January 6 found Andrew Ross Alcante Jr., 62, guilty of multiple felony sex crimes involving two young children, including first-degree sodomy, attempted sodomy, sexual abuse, luring a minor, and using a child in sexually explicit conduct.
The jury returned guilty verdicts on two counts of sodomy in the first degree, one count of attempted sodomy in the first degree, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of luring a minor, and two counts of using a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct. Two of the convictions fall under Oregon’s Jessica’s Law, which mandates enhanced penalties for certain child sex crimes.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Chris Lewman prosecuted the case before Washington County Circuit Court Judge Kathleen Proctor.
Prosecutors said the defendant sexually abused two children over a period of time. The abuse was first reported in December 2023 when one of the victims disclosed what had occurred to a family member. After that disclosure, a second victim came forward. Both children were interviewed by medical and forensic experts at CARES Northwest, where they provided additional details about the abuse.
During the trial, proceedings were interrupted after the third day when Alcante returned home and overdosed on drugs. He survived but was hospitalized, causing a three-week delay before the trial could resume.
The Washington County District Attorney’s Office commended the victims for coming forward and participating in the case. The office also recognized the work of the Beaverton Police Department and CARES Northwest in investigating and supporting the children involved.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2026, when the court will determine Alcante’s punishment for the convictions.
