Portland, OR. — U.S. Border Patrol agents shot and wounded two Venezuelan nationals affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang in Portland after the driver allegedly tried to run them over, according to DHS. According to the DHS statement posted on X, agents were conducting the stop when the driver “weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.”
Fearing for his life, one agent fired a defensive shot. The driver then fled the scene with the passenger before both were later located and hospitalized with apparent gunshot wounds.
Portland Police Bureau officers responded to the scene near Northeast 146th Avenue and East Burnside Street, where they found a man and a woman injured.
The agency described the situation as “evolving” and promised further updates.
