Marion County, OR. — A Marion County Circuit Court judge on Monday accepted a change of plea from Tyler Holman, resolving a homicide case stemming from the 2025 death of Ashley Jean Gandalfi.
Judge Jodie Bureta accepted Holman’s guilty plea to one count of Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm. Holman, 40, entered the plea in exchange for dismissal of the remaining charges against him.
Holman was arrested on January 30, 2025, following an investigation into Gandalfi’s death. Authorities determined that Gandalfi had been shot prior to a vehicle crash in Polk County, where her body was discovered. Holman was driving Gandalfi’s vehicle while intoxicated when the crash occurred in the early morning hours. An autopsy later concluded that her death was not caused by the traffic accident.
Under Oregon law, a conviction for Murder in the Second Degree carries a life sentence, with a mandatory minimum of 25 years before eligibility for parole.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Brendan Murphy.
Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, January 14, at 3:00 p.m. before Judge Bureta in Marion County Circuit Court.
