Heppner, OR. – Representative Greg Smith, the senior-most member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, announced today that Oregon Right to Life PAC (ORTL) has officially endorsed his candidacy for the 2026 Republican primary.
Throughout his tenure, Smith has been an advocate for protecting life and strengthening families. As Vice Co-Chair of the powerful Joint Committee on Ways and Means, Smith plays a critical role in shaping the state’s budget and financial priorities. He also serves on the House Revenue Committee, the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Capitol Construction, and during the interim, the Legislative Emergency Board.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of ORTL,” said Representative Smith. “Defending the most vulnerable and supporting Oregon families has always been at the heart of my service. I look forward to this mission with integrity and dedication.”
Lois Anderson, Executive Director of ORTL, added: “Representative Greg Smith has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting life at every stage. His leadership and experience make him an invaluable advocate for Oregon families, and we are proud to endorse him for reelection.”
Key Accomplishments Focused on Life and Families
- Champion for Life: Supported legislation that safeguards the unborn and protects vulnerable populations.
- Family Advocacy: Advanced policies that strengthen family values and provide resources for parents and children.
- Community Support: Worked tirelessly to ensure rural families have access to essential healthcare services.
- Emergency Response: Played a pivotal role on the Legislative Emergency Board to protect families during statewide crises.
“By working together, we can ensure the protection of life and the well-being of families remains a priority in Oregon,” stated Representative Smith.
Recent Endorsements and Honors
Last month, Representative Smith received endorsements from the Associated Oregon Loggers and Young Republicans of Oregon. He was also given the Maverick Award by then Oregon Cattlemen’s Association President Matt McElligott for his dedication to ranchers and efforts to improve fire protection for rural landowners.
A Reminder to Voters
During the 2024 primary campaign, Representative Smith’s opponent tried to mislead voters by falsely insinuating support from the Oregon Right To Life PAC. Political consultant Chuck Adams created a non-functioning political action committee to deceive Republican voters and fabricate support. This incident underscores the need for transparency and honesty, qualities that Representative Smith continues to demonstrate.
