Tigard, OR. — Results are now available from two targeted retail theft missions conducted during the holiday shopping season by the Tigard Police Department Commercial Crimes Unit.
The one-day operations took place on Black Friday, Nov. 28, and again on Dec. 18, at major retail locations throughout Tigard. Patrol officers and detectives worked alongside store loss prevention teams to identify and address theft activity in real time.
Across both missions, officers arrested 14 adults and referred seven juveniles to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. Nearly $4,000 in stolen merchandise was recovered, and a significant quantity of fentanyl was seized.
During the November operation, seven adults were arrested or charged with Theft II, and one juvenile was referred on a Theft III charge.
The December mission resulted in additional arrests and charges, including multiple outstanding warrants, theft offenses ranging from Theft II to Theft III, and possession of burglary tools or theft devices. Six juveniles were also referred for theft-related charges.
The Tigard Police Department credited assistance from the Portland Police Bureau during the December operation.
According to police, members of the Commercial Crimes Unit conduct retail theft missions throughout the year as part of an ongoing effort to deter shoplifting, theft, robbery, and other business-related crimes.
