Sweet Home, OR. — Fire crews responded early Tuesday morning to a two-alarm structure fire involving a fully involved residential home on Old Hufford Road near Sweet Home.
The fire was reported at 4:22 a.m. after a family member living across the ridge noticed a large glow and contacted 911. Due to the intensity of the fire and limited rural water access, a substantial multi-agency response was requested.
A total of four water tenders, three engine companies, and three chief officers responded, with 24 firefighters and three support personnel working on scene. Water supply proved challenging because of the home’s large footprint and remote location, requiring approximately 45,000 gallons of water to be shuttled to the scene.
The fire resulted in the total loss of the residence, along with three vehicles and one tractor owned by the homeowner. Firefighters were able to fully extinguish the fire by 12:26 p.m.
No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident. The Oregon State Fire Marshal Office assisted with the investigation, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Fire officials thanked assisting agencies for their support, including Lebanon Fire District and Brownsville Rural Fire District.
