Tualatin, OR. — Firefighters responded to a reported residential fire at 6:22 p.m. on December 25th after multiple callers to 911 reported flames coming from a home in the 17900 block of SW Roy Rogers Road.
Upon arrival, crews with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue found a two-story home exceeding 4,000 square feet with smoke venting from multiple eaves and fire beginning to breach the roof. Due to the size and complexity of the incident, the incident commander upgraded the call to bring additional personnel and fire units to the scene.
Fire crews immediately initiated a search of the residence to confirm all occupants had safely exited. While searching the second floor, firefighters encountered holes in the floor caused by fire damage, significantly complicating both search and suppression operations. Crews were ultimately able to confirm all occupants were out of the home and continued making progress in knocking down the fire.
To supply water for firefighting operations, one of the first-arriving engines laid more than 800 feet of large-diameter hose down the long driveway leading to the residence. An additional 500 feet of hose was deployed around the structure to reach and control the fire.
With assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and King City Police, Roy Rogers Road was closed to traffic to protect first responders working at the scene.
A fire investigator was requested, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. American Medical Response also assisted on scene.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced family.
