Tillamook County, OR. — Holiday excitement filled the aisles of Fred Meyer as local law enforcement came together for this year’s Shop With a Cop event, creating a joyful and meaningful celebration for area children and families.
Organized by the Tillamook City Police Department, the event brought officers and children together to shop for gifts, share laughs, and build positive relationships. Participating agencies included the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Manzanita Police Department, Oregon State Police, U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
While deputies and officers helped kids navigate the store, Josh Brown shared why the event matters. “Shop With a Cop is not only one of the most important events we do—it’s also one of my personal favorites,” Brown said. “Seeing the excitement on these kids’ faces and having the chance for our deputies to connect with them in such a positive way is what community policing is all about. These moments matter.”
Thanks to generous community support, each participating child received $250 to shop. Volunteers from TLC Bank donated their time to wrap gifts, adding an extra layer of holiday magic.
The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office thanked Fred Meyer, all participating agencies, volunteers, donors, and community members whose generosity and teamwork made the event a success and helped ensure a brighter holiday season for local children and families.
