Linn County, OR — Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan announced that investigators are examining a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred Friday night at the intersection of Berlin Road and McDowell Creek Drive.
Shortly after 9:06 p.m. on December 5, Linn County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a serious crash with people trapped in both vehicles. Deputies arriving on scene found a 2017 Ram 3500 struck in the passenger side by a 2002 Mazda B-Series pickup.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the Mazda — identified as 19-year-old Zayne Hannah-Gray of Lebanon — died from injuries sustained in the collision. A passenger traveling with him was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ram 3500 was also taken to Good Samaritan with serious injuries, and an 11-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland in critical condition.
Preliminary findings show the Mazda failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck the Ram at a high rate of speed. Investigators also determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Due to the severity of the incident, the Multi-Agency Investigation Team was called in to assist.
Sheriff’s deputies were supported at the scene by personnel from the Sweet Home Fire Department and Lebanon Fire Department.
