Salem, OR. — A 21-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night while crossing Commercial Street SE, marking Salem’s tenth fatal crash of 2025.
The collision occurred around 10:04 p.m. on November 29 near Commercial Street and Ewald Avenue SE. According to investigators, Ethan Alekseyenko of Salem and another man were crossing Commercial Street westbound when a southbound vehicle hit Alekseyenko.
He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Salem Police Traffic Team is leading the investigation. Police say no citations or arrests have been made, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review.
This incident is the tenth fatal crash recorded in the city this year, resulting in ten deaths.
