Marion County, OR. — On November 7, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., Marion County deputies responded to reports of three males tagging a mailbox in the 4600 block of 39th Avenue NE.
Deputies located a white sedan linked to the individuals and observed open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. During the investigation, one suspect fled on foot. Deputies pursued the suspect, who was seen carrying a firearm before discarding it. He was safely taken into custody after a brief chase.
With assistance from K9 Marco, deputies searched the area and recovered three handguns and an AR-style rifle with a drum magazine.
The suspects were identified and booked into the Marion County Jail:
• Diego Tapia (19): Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Escape III, Resisting Arrest
• William Vargas Vargas (18): Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Giving False Information, Escape III
• Ivan Medina (18): Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor, Parole/Probation Detainer
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office thanked its deputies and K9 Marco for their quick response, which led to multiple firearms being removed from the street.
